8:00 PM – This past Saturday, I bought 2 heated throws and gave one to Mom. Apparently, that was a mistake. I thought it would be a nice gesture in showing her that even though I get frustrated with her, I’m really not an asshole at heart. Well, I’ve already caught her trying to take mine twice.

The first time was Sunday when I had left it on the back of the couch. I caught her picking it up and asked her what she was doing with it. She said, “Taking back what is mine!” I explained to her that I had bought 2 of them and hers was upstairs where she left it.

I caught her again just a few minutes ago when I was coming out of the bathroom. I had it under my desk so it would keep my toes warm. She had it piled up on the chair and told me she had a question for me. “I thought I got this for Christmas last year.” (I know, not a question.) I once again let her know that I bought 2 of them a few days ago and that hers was upstairs. I think she would have had it upstairs if it hadn’t been plugged in under and behind the desk.

I think the mistake I made may have been that they were both the same color. Either that or I should have only gotten the one for her.

I other news, I bought a tracking watch for Mom. It turns out I wasted my money on some cheep Chinese crap. The battery didn’t even last a full day. That could be a problem because she couldn’t even remember to plug in a cell phone several years ago when she had one. Also, the time was off and it seems the only way to make any changes was through an app on my phone. When I tried to make a change, it would tell me the watch wasn’t connected to the internet. I had a sim in it and it was activated. I had even waited the 48 hours that the really poorly translated instructions claimed I would need. So I guess now I just have to hope the cold weather will keep her from wandering until I can figure something else out. I’m open to suggestions.

4:30 PM – I don’t know why Mom is so obsessed with walking to CVS these days. I just caught her hiding a small coffee can of change in her sweater and when I asked where she was going, she said she was going to CVS and have them count out some change. She keeps thinking it’s only a block away for some reason. I just had to remind her that it’s too cold out and CVS is about a mile away. Her reaction was: “Oh really?” Yes Mom, it hasn’t moved. It’s no closer than it was when it moved to that location. Also, it’s coming up on 5 PM and will be getting dark really soon. She can’t seem to figure that out either.

7:15 PM – Mom just came downstairs and asked me: “The next time you empty the sweeper, can you check to see if my little black slippers are in there?” In her mind, apparently shoes/slippers can get sucked up in there. While a Kirby does have some really good suction, it’s just not a big enough opening for something much bigger than say, legos.

Just thought that was noteworthy.
