8:00 PM – This past Saturday, I bought 2 heated throws and gave one to Mom. Apparently, that was a mistake. I thought it would be a nice gesture in showing her that even though I get frustrated with her, I’m really not an asshole at heart. Well, I’ve already caught her trying to take mine twice.

The first time was Sunday when I had left it on the back of the couch. I caught her picking it up and asked her what she was doing with it. She said, “Taking back what is mine!” I explained to her that I had bought 2 of them and hers was upstairs where she left it.

I caught her again just a few minutes ago when I was coming out of the bathroom. I had it under my desk so it would keep my toes warm. She had it piled up on the chair and told me she had a question for me. “I thought I got this for Christmas last year.” (I know, not a question.) I once again let her know that I bought 2 of them a few days ago and that hers was upstairs. I think she would have had it upstairs if it hadn’t been plugged in under and behind the desk.

I think the mistake I made may have been that they were both the same color. Either that or I should have only gotten the one for her.

I other news, I bought a tracking watch for Mom. It turns out I wasted my money on some cheep Chinese crap. The battery didn’t even last a full day. That could be a problem because she couldn’t even remember to plug in a cell phone several years ago when she had one. Also, the time was off and it seems the only way to make any changes was through an app on my phone. When I tried to make a change, it would tell me the watch wasn’t connected to the internet. I had a sim in it and it was activated. I had even waited the 48 hours that the really poorly translated instructions claimed I would need. So I guess now I just have to hope the cold weather will keep her from wandering until I can figure something else out. I’m open to suggestions.

  1. I wish I could give you an answer to lighten your load. But all I can say is that you are a very special son to do what you do for your Mom. Jerilyn
