4:45 PM – Mom has been really quiet today! The only things I’ve caught on camera is a couple of brief comments about banging and at about 4:00, she was doing a Find a Word puzzle, looked up and said, “All I’m doing is puzzles. It has nothing to do with my bank account.” She has been up and down the stairs 23 times from 8:00 AM to now (yeah, I counted it from the cameras… lol) While I don’t wake up every time she comes down the stairs, I’m sure the noise brings me up out of a deeper sleep, so I end up waking up almost as tired as I was when I went to bed. She was busy moving things around today in the kitchen, so I had to go around and put things back where I had them after I got up, but that’s pretty much normal these days. Hopefully she’s quiet tomorrow, too. I’ve got one more night to work after tonight, so will still need some sleep.

4:15 PM – She worked on that tangle until 2:53 PM according to the time stamp, got some scissors and cut it out, then spend about 45 minutes messing with her lamp on her headboard and finally replacing it with my little black lamp. She eventually came downstairs and is now in the kitchen making pods for the single cup coffee maker… going on endlessly about me stealing her Echo, as if I would rather have that over my “Hot Red Camaro.” If it’s not me stealing it for myself, it’s me selling it to Veronica or Victoria and about how it’s worth more than what she bought it for. I’m just sitting out here trying to ignore it as best I can.

5:50 AM – Mom came down with a pissed off look on her face and said, “No I’m not chasing you out of here.” I just replied, “Whatever.” She went to the bathroom and when she came out, she was talking to another invisible friend and said that someone is trying to kill her. She came by and I told her that no one was trying to kill her. Nose went up and on up the stairs she went. Keep it up, Mom. While I won’t kill her, I won’t put up with the attitude much longer and she will find herself locked up in a nursing home. She’s just about got that hole worn through my patience.
12:45 PM – I got woken up by, guess who. So I started reviewing footage that started up at about 8:30 with her going up and down the stairs a bunch of times. She’s not really chatty yet, although She was loud in the kitchen a bit ago talking about someone wrecking her Echo and how it’s worth more than she bought it for. So far, the topics in the video have been the normal stuff, she’s allowed to have friends, the echo and a new one, Veronica/Victoria is trying to kill her now. Lots of hand gestures and finger pointing.
1:43 PM – Caught up on reviewing clips. In other news, I got an email from State Farm that their underwriters are saying that I have to put up a railing around the deck by next February. The deck has never had a railing and now suddenly it needs one. Great. I don’t have the money or the skills to build one. *sighs*
5:40 PM – I don’t have time to go through any more clips as it’s time to get ready for work, but at one point, she came downstairs and pointed at me with an attitude, so I went out to the kitchen to find out what was going on. She tried the “As if you don’t know,” comment and when I pressed her, she finally said something about me selling the Echo. I open the back door and showed her that it was still there. She said, “Good boy.” I slammed the door and told her that was enough of that crap and went back out to try to sleep a little longer. Anyway, I probably won’t mess with going through clips tomorrow unless I hear her upstairs stomping or yelling.

11:30 AM – Mom has been strangely quiet so far today. I’m not getting my hopes up for the rest of the week, heck, for the rest of the day even. She has been up and down the stairs numerous times though. Her day started when she first came down at 8:28 (according to footage.) I’ve counted 8 times so far (including as I’m typing this.)
8:45 PM – The voices in her head won’t “stop it” unless I walk into a room it seems. She was just out in the kitchen waking me up from my nap yelling at the voices to stop it. I suggested that maybe it’s time to go to the hospital to see what they can do about it. She told me no, the voices stopped when I walked in the room. I think they stopped because I distracted her or something. I’m reviewing footage from the time I was napping (I managed to get about 3 hours so that I can stay up all night and sleep tomorrow during the day for work tomorrow night.) There is a lot to go through and if I see any that are out of the ordinary, I’ll post them below.
That’s all I have for the upstairs camera. I haven’t even checked the kitchen yet, but I don’t think I’m going to mess with it since I’ve already uploaded a bunch today. By uploading all these videos, hopefully it will help the Doctor’s when it comes time to evaluate her. Is it excessive? Is it obsessive? Yeah, probably a little of both, but it may also be necessary.

1:35 AM – Mom came downstairs holding her hands on her ears and asked, “You don’t hear anything?” Nope, just the TV. I gave her 2 Tylenol assuming she has a headache and is hearing phantom banging.
6:35 AM – She is really bad this morning. Seeing something slithering. She told me she’s hearing, “Saaaaaandy, Saaaaaaandy, Whhhy Wooon’t Yoouuu Answer Meeee Ooooonnn Yoooouuuuu Ceeeeellll Phoooonnnneeee.” She doesn’t have a cell phone. She was out in the kitchen and kept telling me that she was. I went out to see who she was talking to and she said, “you. there’s something crawling around out here.” I told her there was nothing out there and she starting saying, “I’m in the kitchen.” really loud again. By this time I’m getting fed up and yell out there that there’s nothing crawling around out there. She says, “You’re calling me a liar then.” I repeated that there’s nothing out there. This may be a very trying day.
2:05 PM – She keeps showing me her coat and saying, “This is mine.” as if she thinks I’m trying to take it or something. Who know’s what’s going on in her head, but she’s been in the kitchen just non-stop chatting. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten the camera yet (7 stops away as of this writing,) so I can’t record any of it, but it’s out there and almost constant.
2:34 PM – She put her coat on and was looking out the door. I asked her what she was doing and she said, “Jerry Feester is supposed to pick up Veronica (Victoria?).” *face palm* She’s so much fun to be around today. It’s a good thing I don’t have to work tonight. There’s no way I would have been able to get any sleep!
2:50 PM – Now apparently Veronica/Victoria stabbed Jerry because she didn’t want to go to Mercy Home for boys and girls. She said, “It’s crazy.” I couldn’t agree more.
5:15 PM – Mom has been sitting at the bottom of the stairs watching me. Well, she usually doesn’t talk to her invisible friends while I’m in the same room, but tonight she said, “This is my house. I bought it when the boys were little.” I think I’ve mentioned before that only Troy was still living with her when she bought it. Anyway, I looked at her (like she is out of her mind more than usual,) and she said, “Someone is telling me that I’m the next one being targeted to be killed.” Yeah, I did a face palm.
6:50 PM – Mom came down to use the bathroom and came back out a few seconds later to tell me that there was someone in the bathroom telling her to get out. Getting fed up with this crap today, I told her, “There is no one in the bathroom, now knock it off!” She tried repeating herself and I stopped her and told her to knock it off again. She went back in the bathroom and did her business. This day has sucked bad.
7:05 PM – Just finished yelling at her at the top of my lungs. I have had it! Being nice hasn’t worked, being calm hasn’t worked, ignoring her hasn’t worked. What the hell is left? Nursing home I guess. She starts in tomorrow and she might just find herself at the ER getting evaluated and then off to the nursing home. I am done.
7:55 PM – She has already forgotten about being yelled at, now she’s coming downstairs over and over again asking, “Where’s that coming from?” When asked what “that” is, she tells me it is “Shhhhaaaaannnon” in a constant loop. And here she comes again.. *eyeroll*
February 23, 2020
5:45 AM – Mom came downstairs and stood at the bottom and said, “I’m Sandy Smith-Geiger-Murphy.” I told her that she can just go by Sandy Murphy and asked why she felt the need to tell me her name. She said, “Someone told me I needed to identify myself.” Ooookay.
9:15 AM – She’s in the kitchen talking about someone singing, he has a beautiful voice, but needs to be put in a sound proof room because he’s giving her a headache. I’m not recording any of it because at the moment, she’s getting a bowl of cereal ready and it’s making quiet a bit of noise.
12:01 PM – She stomped on the floor again (5 stomps.) I wasn’t recording at the time, but checked the camera and she was sitting on her bed. A minute later and she got up and closed her bedroom door.
1:35 PM – Mom’s thing today seems to be constantly asking if I’m OK. I don’t know why she keeps asking me. Maybe one of her invisible friends told her there was something wrong with me. It’s getting kind of annoying.. lol
1:40 PM – And she stomped her feet in the bathroom (3 stomps.) She came out and went upstairs and once at the top of the stairs, I heard her say, “Shannon thinks this is his house.” May be related to the stomps. She also can’t seem to stay either upstairs or downstairs today. She’s also walking around pointing. I’m not sure what that’s all about.
9:45 PM – She’s been fairly quiet since the last update and just shut off lights and closed her bedroom door. Right before she did that, she stood at the door and was telling someone to shut up. Side Note: The mic on the upstairs camera isn’t as sensitive as the other cameras were. It’s harder to hear what she’s saying when she’s just talking quietly in her bedroom, but it is a cleaner audio. If the replacement camera coming tomorrow is more sensitive, I’ll put that one upstairs. So far I really like the new ones. Connect right away, no signal drops and they are powered, so no batteries to change and I can monitor continuously if needed.

8:45 AM – Mom came down this morning with a look on her face like she is going to have an attitude problem today. I hope that’s not the case as my own fuse is getting shorter and shorter as time goes on. We shall see I guess.
2:5o PM – Got woken up to stomping again. This time it was much harder than usual. So, I went up and yelled at her. I let her know that the stomping was unacceptable and I’m tired of being woken up to it. She claimed that she was just sitting there all innocent like even though it had only been 2 minutes prior. She put her headphones back on, so I yelled even louder that if it continued, she WILL find herself in a nursing home.
February 21, 2020
8:45 AM – She’s already started today. She’s upstairs going on about being accused of being a liar and a thief, “Why is he not being picked up for being a liar and a thief?” and how she had 4 boys. There is a new one, though. “Shannon’s gonna be haunted for the rest of his life for what he’s doing.” What am I doing? I have no idea. So basically, babbling on about a bunch of random nonsense as usual. I’m gonna eat my supper and try to get some sleep if she will let me. And she stomped on the floor. We may end up having some words.
2:00 PM – Got woken up by more stomping. This is bullshit. She has her bedroom door shut and I don’t hear any yelling, so I don’t know what’s going on. I got a new key fob in today, so went ahead and got up to go out and program it, my jackets were gone. Turns out, Mom had decided to wash them today. I’ve been washing my own stuff for years, now suddenly she needs to wash them? No signs of using soap or fabric softener either.
3:15 PM – She’s apparently being accused of stealing the lamp that sits beside her upstairs. I guess she needed something else since the piano stool wasn’t there anymore. Will upload video if any stomping or anything else drastic happen.
February 20, 2020
4:00 PM – I woke up to what may or may not have been 3 bangs. I say may or may not have because I don’t know if she was banging, it was coming from outside or if I was dreaming it. I checked the cam and she was going on about not stealing, the piano stool was already here and the house is too old to have a piano in it again. For the most part, I slept pretty well today, waking up a couple of times when Mom was going up and down the stairs and once when a guy came and knocked on the door to let me know he was taking pictures of the house for the insurance company (I was notified ahead of time when I got the homeowner’s insurance that this would happen.) Pretty much no change from yesterday then it seems.
4:15 PM – OK, this was different. She picked up her piano stool, stood at the upstairs door for a moment, walked out of the room with it, then walked back in and put it back where it was. Odd.
February 19, 2020
3:15 AM – I had an idea about Mom’s TV watching and decided to look up recommended TV channels that might be suitable for Alzheimer’s patients. There were 2 of them that I found: TV Land and Turner Classic Movies. I settled on TV Land to give that a try since they are shorter programs and they have several older shows that she might enjoy. I’m wondering if the Travel Channel programming might have been causing problems with the Ghost Hunter style shows that they have on there sometimes. Hopefully she doesn’t give me any problems with the change and the shows help with her mood!
10:55 AM – It’s probably too soon to know for sure if the TV idea is working, but she’s been wearing the headphones around the house, hasn’t said anything about it being on a different channel and most notably, hasn’t been talking to her invisible people (to my knowledge.) She has been up and down the stairs several times, which is why I’m awake right now, but is currently upstairs doing a find the word puzzle, silently. The channel guide shows that Bonanza is on right now, but it was The Andy Griffith Show earlier. I’m going to try to go back to sleep now. Hopefully things continue to stay quiet.
3:15 PM – It’s really annoying when she moves something, then claims she didn’t do it. I have a coffee bean can that has a vacuum plug and sealed cap on it I keep in a lower cabinet. I found it in the refrigerator with the plug removed. Mom happened to be standing there and I casually commented that this can stays in the cabinet. She immediately got bent out of shape and claimed that she didn’t do it. I replied, “I’m just saying, this goes in a cabinet, not in the fridge.” I have to say, at least she left me alone for the most part today. No stomping, no loud talking. She did wake me up a few times going up and down the stairs. I’ve gotten to be such a light sleeper that just the creaking of the stairs will wake me. In a way, that’s probably a good thing. She’s in the kitchen, rocking in her chair and drinking a cup of coffee quietly.
4:00 PM – Mom used to like watching M*A*S*H, but was sitting in the kitchen. I let her know that it was coming on and she hurried upstairs to watch it. She’s up there quietly watching it now. Out of the blue, she said, “If you think I’ve stolen something like that, then you need to get out of here. This old house wouldn’t handle a piano.”
5:35 PM – The conversation has shifted to reminding someone that they’ve been dead for a while now and that I have a hot red Camaro and she has an Echo. She also thinks that I’ve already left for work (oddly enough, she came downstairs right after talking about me leaving for work and didn’t say a word to me or act like she was surprised I was still here.) I haven’t yet, but it’s almost time for me to get ready, so this is probably going to be the last update for the night unless I see something while I’m at work worth posting about. So, good night!
